Pretty {but} Deadly
HOWEVER. With this beauty came a bevvy of dangerous animals....
First here is the sign warning visitors of the deadly box jellyfish- No stepping foot into the ocean between November and March when they breed in the streams and wash out to the shore. They carry more poison than any other animal on earth. Next, is a lovely image of a barrier asking people not to go onto the beach because of the salt water crocodiles. Pictured behind is a man taking a picture of his entire family at the water's edge. Darwin award pending??
We also stopped by the Daintree Forest and the Mossman Gorge
The hotel was beautiful, we got a 2 br apartment with a swim out pool .....sigh....

While we were there we snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef. There is nothing like it- since I don't have pictures from under the water, I simply have to attest to it's beauty and the feeling that it's one of the most spectacular places ever.
We had an excellent dinner at Nautilus -worth going up there for this alone...
And finally, on the way back to the airport, we stopped by Hartley's croclide farm. 100% humidity, 100 degrees outside. Ugh.

Landslide in La Herradura
Just heard that a couple days ago there was a landslide in La Herradura. Thankfully no one was hurt. This is the main road that goes from our house to Rob's parents' house.

The Bees Knees
Because Maria was visiting from Spain, and more precisely, because we generally look for any excuse to wear even MORE make up and false eye lashes, this year we decided to celebrate Mardi Gras. Unlike the last year, this year we had a theme for the Gay Parade : The Queens' Bees
And it took a lot of make up.....
and some more make up...
And then we were ready to celebrate with 70,000 gay people we never met- HOORAY!! Now that is what I call a party! (where, you may ask, is Rob? At the pub of course. Secretly feeling sorry he doesn't have a bedazzled stinger of his own).
As he and Tom (Maria's husband) nurse each others dashed dreams over a quantity of beer, we set off into the city to show Maria the sights of our wonderful town.
Through the park and down to the ferry we go.
A man explains to his daughter that we are Ladybugs at the ferry port. We remain spirits high however delinquent the audience may be. LADYBUGS INDEED.

The customs house is great place of heritage. and it has a bar! bees are thirsty!
We then take a stroll through Hyde Park which ends up being a photoshoot with 64 million Japanese tourists. We are delayed for 30 minutes so that the entire population can have their photo with us.

Bauhaus Salon
I'm in the midst of churning out three canvases for Bauhaus Salon and it's kept me pretty busy! Here are the first two. The bicycle has a bit to go, but I'm getting close!

Pasport photo op
They recommend that you take your own baby's passport photo since it can take shot after shot. And that was exactly our story as I tried to get Val's mug for his US passport. Here are some outtakes:

Happy Australia Day!
Australia Day is a lot like our Fourth of July, but a lot less beer and a lot more wine. People walked up and down the footpath draped with Australian flags and kids gave themselves temporary tattoos all over their faces with the red white and blue. There were a couple of inflatable kangaroos and aussie beach balls bouncing around too!

Things taking form at the salon
This weekend when I got back to Sydney, the school was well underway. Students arrive on Monday so its been a mad rush to get everything ready. There's still a ways to go but here's a look around the school and the salon.
